Every year, a small town must be built for up to 80,000 visitors – several stages, backstage areas, a campsite, drink stands, a food court and a temporary supermarket – on an extensive site without power, water and with insufficient mobile coverage, set up within a few weeks and dismantled again in one. From the very first day of setup, the safety of staff and materials must be ensured. During the event, visitors must be informed reliably, targeted or site-wide. Fences, gates, light masts, pumps and devices across the whole site need to be monitored, remotely controlled and protected against theft. The requirements keep rising – the budget does not!

You rent NIKOS through certified partners in your region – see what is included and how it works.
NIKOS replaces several isolated solutions with one autonomous platform: production intercom, perimeter protection, overcrowding and announcement management, power monitoring and remote control all run over the same radio network.
The can, among other things, serve as a radio dispatch centre to coordinate the mobile radio users. Even though the
can do far more than a normal radio dispatcher, this basic function remains very important for everyday operation and saves a separate operating position for organisational radio. In an emergency, staff and safety functions can thus be controlled from a single system. Through our rental partners we provide radios and the corresponding infrastructure to set up temporary networks. If required,
can also be integrated into an existing radio system. It is often advantageous to integrate
into the organisational radio, avoiding duplicate infrastructure and multiple handheld radios for individual staff members. In certain cases, however, it can make sense to technically separate the NIKOS applications from everyday voice radio. We are happy to advise you on this.
Position and vibration sensors on the fence panels detect whether the fence has blown over, been opened or someone is climbing over it. Emergency exit gates equipped with report every opening and closing with a timestamp to the
and to mobile security patrols. At the same time a
emergency light switches on instantly. Via
, large floodlights of up to 2300 W (10 A) can also be switched if needed. A simple bell wire used as a contact loop on
is enough to monitor any gate, control box or fence and trigger an alarm.
If a people-counting system detects that a defined threshold has been exceeded, this is passed to as a switching signal and shown, e.g. as a yellow light at the affected entrances. Once the entrance is closed – via a sensor or by manual confirmation from the entrance staff pressing
– the signal turns red and the confirmation “Entry X stopped” is sent to the counting system or as a text message to configured radios. When the count drops again, the signal returns to yellow and, after reopening, to green.
In crisis situations, fast, clear and unambiguous information is essential. With , the programme can be interrupted at all or individual stages at the push of a button and an announcement delivered – live, pre-recorded, imported as a file or via text-to-speech. Areas without their own PA (traffic routes, camping, catering) are covered by directly connectable
speakers. Loud machines without an audio input can be switched off via
during the announcement. Freely configurable call groups also allow local announcements during normal operation without interrupting the stage programme.
Every unit reports immediately if its main power supply fails. Operation continues thanks to an internal battery lasting up to 16 hours – the alert ensures complete documentation and monitoring of the power supply at each connection point. If a unit is deliberately connected to the stage PA circuit, a failure is shown instantly on the
and the electrician's radio. Connected
backup speakers can be configured to be used only during a power failure, and
can switch on emergency lighting on the stage.
Light masts on camping areas, car parks and connecting routes are often not remotely switchable. Since they stand at central locations, they also serve as announcement points. 's switching functions allow them to be controlled by timer or radio at no extra cost. The same applies to water pumps, motors and other devices: if the water pressure at a sanitary container drops,
automatically switches on the pump and refills the fresh water tank until the target pressure is reached. Festival sirens can be triggered directly or via
.
At the push of a button on the or via a scenario triggered by another
unit, a media player can be switched to a predefined display – e.g. “Please pay attention to the announcement” or a severe-weather warning – as well as switching text or symbol displays.
Rural festival sites are naturally dark and need reliable lighting on paths, camping areas, sanitary zones and dark corners. Instead of laying cables and luminaires, wireless emergency lights can simply be mounted on trees, masts and trusses.
is a battery-powered LED light with a solar panel, mounted in minutes by one person without tools. Depending on the mode it stays on in darkness, comes on only with motion, or runs dimmed and brightens on motion. The internal battery recharges automatically during the day – completely maintenance-free and without an external power supply. Removal is only possible with a special tool (theft protection).
Changes in the operating status of external devices can be monitored with , recorded with a timestamp and shown as a text message on radios, provided the device has a suitable interface (e.g. GPIO). In each
unit, up to 3 inputs or outputs can be configured individually and matching messages sent to the responsible staff. This means the
always shows whether a generator is running, its diesel tank is nearly empty or a black-water tank is almost full.
NIKOS runs on its own self-sufficient radio network – independent of mobile networks, Wi-Fi and the internet. The announcement unit keeps running for up to 16 hours on its internal battery, and announcements via the
outdoor loudspeaker continue during a power failure as well. Warnings therefore reach visitors even when public networks and power fail.
