Crisis Communication for EXPO 2027 Belgrade

autonomous reliable cost-effective

NIKOS is not a conventional PA system, but a radio-based public address, alarm and control system for large events, construction sites and crisis situations, which you can rent by the day through certified partners and either integrate into your PA or use on its own.

Challenge

Crisis information without public networks

At EXPO 2027 Belgrade, crisis communication is a particular challenge due to the large number of visitors, a noisy environment and an international audience. In critical situations, warnings and instructions must remain clear and intelligible despite the event noise. The international nature and size of the event site make it difficult to address all visitors consistently. At the same time, public mobile networks may fail under heavy usage or in the event of disruptions.

Solution

One unified solution for everyday use and emergencies

NIKOS combines announcements, alerting, visitor information and control in a single, network-independent platform. NIKOS [dispatcher]² can address individual announcement locations, specific areas or the entire event site. Centralised operation consolidates communication and reduces the need for separate control units, additional cabling and the management of different subsystems.

FAQ

Information for planners and organisers

Do announcements made with NIKOS comply with the applicable standards?+
Yes. NIKOS meets the requirements of DIN EN 50849 (electroacoustic emergency warning systems). NIKOS was developed specifically for safety-relevant public address and alerting applications and is technically designed for use in both everyday and emergency situations. For electroacoustic emergency warning systems, DIN EN 50849 is the relevant reference framework. Unlike mobile network-based systems, NIKOS fully meets the requirements specified therein, as it does not depend on an external network and can therefore be used immediately at any time. Other standards known from safety technology, such as DIN EN 54, DIN VDE 0833-4 and DIN 14675 (voice alarm systems), do not apply to the field of use and functional scope of NIKOS and are therefore not relevant for approval. NIKOS is a public address system for temporary and mobile applications and has been successfully deployed in numerous mission-critical communication tasks since 2017. RADACOM and your regional NIKOS partner will be happy to advise you on NIKOS's wide range of functions and support you in implementing the requirements cost-effectively.
Will crisis communication remain operational at EXPO 2027 Belgrade in the event of a power or network outage?+
Yes. NIKOS operates via its own autonomous radio network and is completely independent of public communication networks and their availability. This makes the system highly resistant to external influences. Because NIKOS does not rely on cable connections but communicates wirelessly, the connection is automatically re-established after an interruption. As a result, NIKOS responds far more resiliently to disruptions in normal operations than many other systems, demonstrating the system's suitability for crisis situations. NIKOS [audio]² has an internal battery with up to 16 hours of operating time and also supplies connected accessory modules. Even if the mobile network is overloaded, the internet provider has been hacked or someone has unplugged the wrong cable, NIKOS continues to operate. This ensures that crisis communication for EXPO 2027 Belgrade remains reliably functional even in the event of a power failure or disruptions to public communication networks.
Can NIKOS be installed quickly and flexibly for EXPO 2027 Belgrade?+
Yes. NIKOS was specifically developed for flexible outdoor use without permanent infrastructure. The modules can be mounted and individually configured by one or two people within just a few minutes on various structures, such as lamp posts, stages, stalls or trees. A standard Schuko power outlet is sufficient for continuous operation. NIKOS uses an existing digital radio network.
Where does NIKOS offer cost advantages for crisis communication at EXPO 2027 Belgrade?+
Depending on the application, NIKOS can implement different functions via a single communications platform. These savings can quickly offset NIKOS's rental and installation costs. You can find some specific examples of savings here. NIKOS reduces the effort required for separate loudspeaker, control and communication solutions. Less material and cabling are needed, while information and emergency announcements can be made from a single location. NIKOS can also deliver targeted savings in personnel resources: tasks that would otherwise require several security, reporting or control posts distributed across the site can be centrally managed and monitored or carried out by NIKOS from a single location using central announcements, remote control and status monitoring. This allows personnel to be reduced or deployed more effectively at security-critical points.
