NIKOS – Landesfest

Crowd Management for the Sachsen-Anhalt-Tag 2028 in Aschersleben

autonomous reliable cost-effective

NIKOS is not a conventional PA system, but a radio-based public address, alarm and control system for large events, construction sites and crisis situations, which you can rent by the day through certified partners and either integrate into your PA or use on its own.

Challenge

Targeted control of visitor flows across distributed event areas

At the Sachsen-Anhalt-Tag 2028 in Aschersleben, stages, activity areas and access points will be spread across several parts of the city. Visitor numbers and walking directions will change significantly throughout the event day, meaning that bottlenecks, backlogs and temporary closures must be coordinated and communicated quickly. During periods of high visitor density, mobile networks are heavily congested. In the event of a power or network outage, safety-critical communication must remain operational.

Solution

One unified solution for everyday use and emergencies

One platform for everything: NIKOS unites visitor information, alerting, crowd management and control in a single, network-independent system. Quickly deployable, radio-based units eliminate the need for long cable runs and reduce the effort required to set up temporary public address points in different event areas. This reduces material, installation and support costs; staff travel, operating and security posts are also reduced because recurring tasks are managed centrally and monitored or carried out by NIKOS.

FAQ

Information for planners and organisers

Do announcements made with NIKOS comply with the applicable standards?+
Yes. NIKOS meets the requirements of DIN EN 50849 (electroacoustic emergency warning systems). NIKOS was developed specifically for safety-relevant public address and alerting applications and is technically designed for use in both everyday and emergency situations. For electroacoustic emergency warning systems, DIN EN 50849 is the relevant reference framework. Unlike mobile network-based systems, NIKOS fully meets the requirements specified therein, as it does not depend on an external network and can therefore be used immediately at any time. Other standards known from safety technology, such as DIN EN 54, DIN VDE 0833-4 and DIN 14675 (voice alarm systems), do not apply to the field of use and functional scope of NIKOS and are therefore not relevant for approval. NIKOS is a public address system for temporary and mobile applications and has been successfully deployed in numerous mission-critical communication tasks since 2017. RADACOM and your regional NIKOS partner will be happy to advise you on the wide range of NIKOS functions and support you in implementing the requirements cost-effectively.
Where does NIKOS deliver cost savings?+
Depending on the application, NIKOS can implement a range of different functions via a single, unified communication platform. The savings achieved can quickly offset NIKOS's rental and installation costs. You can find some specific examples of savings here. NIKOS mainly reduces the effort required for separate loudspeaker, control and communication solutions. Material requirements and cabling work are reduced, and information and emergency announcements can be made from a single location. Tasks that would otherwise require several security, reporting or operating posts distributed across the site can be handled from a single location through central announcements, remote control and status monitoring, relieving staff in a targeted manner or enabling them to be deployed more effectively at safety-critical points.
Is NIKOS crisis-resilient?+
Yes. NIKOS operates via its own autonomous radio network and is completely independent of public communication networks and their availability. This makes the system highly resilient to external influences. Because NIKOS does not rely on cables but communicates via radio, the connection is automatically restored after an interruption. NIKOS [audio]² has an internal battery with up to 16 hours of operating time and also supplies connected accessory modules. This means that crowd management for the Sachsen-Anhalt-Tag 2028 remains reliably operational even in the event of a power failure or disruptions to public communication networks.
How are different visitor areas at the Sachsen-Anhalt-Tag addressed specifically?+
NIKOS [dispatcher]² controls the announcement units as required for individual announcement locations, specific areas or the entire site. NIKOS [audio]² receives the voice transmission on site via radio and outputs it as an analogue audio signal. At locations without an existing public address system, NIKOS [horn]² supplements the acoustic output, ensuring that areas where visitors need to be guided or informed can be addressed specifically.
