NIKOS – Landesfest

Emergency communication system for the Sachsen-Anhalt Day 2028 in Aschersleben

autonomous reliable cost-effective

NIKOS is not a conventional PA system, but a radio-based public address, alarm and control system for large events, construction sites and crisis situations, which you can rent by the day through certified partners and either integrate into your PA or use on its own.

Challenge

Coordinated announcements across distributed stages and areas

At the Sachsen-Anhalt Day 2028 in Aschersleben, stages, activity areas and visitor flows will be spread across several parts of the city, while visitor numbers will fluctuate considerably throughout the day. For an emergency communication system, this means that warnings and instructions must be clearly understood either within individual areas or across the entire event, without emergency personnel having to visit each location individually. Announcements are particularly challenging in such a complex environment.

Solution

One unified solution for everyday use and emergencies

Instead of multiple separate solutions: NIKOS unites visitor information, system monitoring, visitor guidance and control in a single network-independent platform. For distributed stages, service points and bottlenecks, NIKOS uses rapidly deployable, radio-based units instead of requiring long cable runs through the city centre. NIKOS [audio]² receives the voice transmission locally via radio and outputs it as an analogue audio signal; NIKOS [horn]² supplements the acoustic output at locations without an existing public-address system. This reduces material requirements and setup time, while also reducing the number of operator and security posts, as recurring tasks are centrally controlled and monitored or carried out by NIKOS.

FAQ

Information for planners and organisers

Does NIKOS adhere to the applicable standards for announcements?+
Yes. The basis is DIN EN 50849 for electroacoustic emergency warning systems, whose requirements NIKOS fully meets. Developed specifically for safety-relevant announcement and alerting applications, NIKOS is technically designed for everyday use as well as for emergency situations. For ELA systems, DIN EN 50849 forms the relevant framework. Because NIKOS — unlike mobile network-based systems — does not depend on an external network, immediate usability is guaranteed at all times, meaning the standard is fully met. Other safety-related standards such as DIN EN 54, DIN VDE 0833-4 and DIN 14675 (voice alarm systems) concern a different field of use and functional scope and are not relevant for the approval of NIKOS. Since its market launch in 2017, NIKOS has been the leading public address system for temporary and mobile applications, used successfully at some of the largest open-air events in Europe. RADACOM and your regional NIKOS partner will be happy to advise you on the wide range of NIKOS functions and support you in implementing the requirements cost-effectively.
Where does NIKOS deliver cost advantages?+
Depending on the application, NIKOS can be used to implement a range of different functions via a single communications platform. These savings can quickly offset the rental and installation costs of NIKOS. You can find some specific examples of savings here. When its wide range of functions is used consistently, NIKOS often not only increases the level of safety and makes work easier for employees, but can even reduce the overall budget. NIKOS mainly reduces the effort required for separate loudspeaker, control and communication solutions. Material requirements and cabling work are reduced, and information and emergency announcements can be made from a single location. NIKOS can also specifically replace personnel: tasks that would otherwise require several security, reporting or operator posts distributed across the site can be handled from a single location through central announcements, remote control and status monitoring. This allows personnel to be reduced or deployed more effectively at safety-critical points. Particularly for temporary, time-limited events, this significantly reduces the costs of planning, setup and operation of the safety technology.
Does the emergency communication system remain operational in the event of a network failure?+
Yes. NIKOS operates via its own autonomous radio network and independently of public communications networks. NIKOS [audio]² has an internal battery providing up to 16 hours of operating time and also powers connected accessory modules. This means that the emergency communication system for the Sachsen-Anhalt Day 2028 remains reliably operational even in the event of a power failure or disruptions to public communications networks.
How flexibly can NIKOS be positioned at the Sachsen-Anhalt Day?+
NIKOS was specifically developed for flexible outdoor deployments without fixed infrastructure. The modules can be mounted by one or two people within just a few minutes on various structures such as lampposts, stages, stands or trees, and configured individually. A standard Schuko power connection is sufficient for continuous operation.
