NIKOS – Tag der deutschen Einheit

Event security for the central celebration of German Unity Day 2027 in Düsseldorf

autonomous reliable cost-effective

NIKOS is not a conventional PA system, but a radio-based public address, alarm and control system for large events, construction sites and crisis situations, which you can rent by the day through certified partners and either integrate into your PA or use on its own.

Challenge

Rapid warnings in security-critical situations across a large fan-zone-style event site

The central celebration of German Unity Day 2027 in Düsseldorf will bring together very high visitor density, fan-zone-style areas and high-ranking guests in a complex inner-city setting. In security-critical situations, warnings and instructions must reach the affected areas within seconds without unnecessarily burdening other areas. At the same time, distributed stages, entrances and visitor flows make it difficult to provide a shared public-address layer and guide the crowds clearly.

Solution

One unified solution for everyday use and emergencies

Instead of multiple separate solutions: NIKOS unites visitor information, system monitoring, visitor guidance and control in a single network-independent platform. NIKOS [dispatcher]² controls public-address units as required, targeting individual announcement locations, specific areas or the entire site. NIKOS [horn]² provides acoustic output at positions without an existing sound system. Consolidating public-address, alarm, information and control functions in a single platform reduces the need for separate loudspeaker systems, control units and additional installation work. NIKOS [LED]² serves as emergency lighting, while NIKOS [relay]² switches external devices.

FAQ

Information for planners and organisers

Are announcements made via NIKOS standard-compliant?+
Yes — NIKOS fully meets DIN EN 50849 (electroacoustic emergency warning systems). The system was designed specifically for safety-relevant announcement and alerting tasks, technically built for everyday operation as well as for emergencies. For ELA systems, DIN EN 50849 sets out the relevant framework. Because NIKOS — unlike mobile network-based solutions — does not depend on any external network, it is always immediately usable and fully meets the requirements set out in the standard. Other safety-related standards such as DIN EN 54, DIN VDE 0833-4 or DIN 14675 (voice alarm systems) concern a different field of use and functional scope and are therefore not relevant for NIKOS in terms of approval. Since 2017, NIKOS has been used successfully many times a public address system for temporary and mobile applications in mission-critical communication tasks. RADACOM and your regional NIKOS partner will be happy to advise you on the wide range of NIKOS functions and support you in implementing the requirements cost-effectively.
Where does using NIKOS generate cost savings?+
Depending on the application, NIKOS can implement different functions via a single, unified communications platform. NIKOS mainly reduces the effort required for separate loudspeaker, control and communication solutions. Material requirements and cabling work are reduced, and information and emergency announcements can be made from a single location. In addition, NIKOS can specifically replace personnel: tasks that would otherwise require several security, reporting or operating posts distributed across the site can be handled from a single location through central announcements, remote control and status monitoring. The greatest savings potential arises at fenced events such as festivals or corporate events: monitoring emergency-exit gates technically with NIKOS can cover the security duties for those gates, eliminating security posts at emergency exits or allowing them to be deployed more effectively elsewhere. Particularly at temporary, time-limited events, this significantly reduces the costs of planning, installing and operating the security technology.
How does the alarm system remain operational in the event of a network or power failure?+
NIKOS operates via its own autonomous wireless network and is completely independent of public communications networks and their availability. Because NIKOS does not rely on cable routes but communicates wirelessly, the connection is automatically re-established after an interruption. NIKOS [audio]² has an internal battery with a runtime of up to 16 hours and also powers connected accessory modules. This ensures that event security for the central celebration of German Unity Day 2027 remains reliably operational even in the event of a power failure or disruptions to public communications networks.
Can NIKOS be deployed at short notice and used flexibly?+
Yes. NIKOS was specifically developed for flexible outdoor deployments without fixed infrastructure. One or two people can mount the modules within just a few minutes on a variety of structures, such as lampposts, stages, stands or trees, and configure them individually. A standard Schuko power connection is sufficient for continuous operation.
