NIKOS – Gedenkveranstaltung

Visitor Guidance for EXPO 2027 Belgrade

autonomous reliable cost-effective

NIKOS is not a conventional PA system, but a radio-based public address, alarm and control system for large events, construction sites and crisis situations, which you can rent by the day through certified partners and either integrate into your PA or use on its own.

Challenge

Guide visitors safely to the right areas

At EXPO 2027 Belgrade, guiding visitors is a particular challenge due to high visitor numbers, crowds and visitors who speak different languages. Visitor flows require clear direction so that individual areas do not become overcrowded and routes remain clear. Information and instructions must reach all visitors clearly, even when attendance is high.

Solution

One unified solution for everyday use and emergencies

Instead of multiple separate solutions: NIKOS unites visitor information, system monitoring, visitor guidance and control in a single network-independent platform. NIKOS [dispatcher]² controls the announcement units for individual announcement locations, specific areas or the entire site. This enables visitor flows to be managed centrally, while NIKOS delivers coordination and instructions across the site. The need for additional reporting and operator stations is reduced.

FAQ

Information for planners and organisers

Is NIKOS designed to meet the relevant standards for announcements?+
Yes, indeed: NIKOS meets the requirements of DIN EN 50849 for electroacoustic emergency warning systems. The system was developed specifically for safety-relevant announcements and alerting and is technically designed for both everyday operation and emergency situations. DIN EN 50849 represents the relevant reference framework for ELA systems. Unlike mobile network-based systems, NIKOS does not depend on any external network and is therefore immediately ready for use at all times — fully meeting the standard as a result. Other standards known from safety technology, such as DIN EN 54, DIN VDE 0833-4 and DIN 14675 (voice alarm systems), do not apply to NIKOS, as they are not applicable to radio-based public address systems like NIKOS. NIKOS is a public address system for temporary and mobile applications and has been used successfully many times for mission-critical communication tasks since 2017. RADACOM and your regional NIKOS partner will advise you on NIKOS functions and support you in implementing the requirements cost-effectively.
Is NIKOS crisis-proof?+
Yes. NIKOS operates via its own autonomous radio network and is completely independent of public communications networks and their availability. This makes the system resistant to external influences. Since NIKOS does not rely on cable routes but communicates via radio, the connection is automatically re-established after an interruption. NIKOS responds resiliently to disruptions in normal operations, demonstrating the crisis-readiness of this communications system. NIKOS [audio]² has an internal battery with a runtime of up to 16 hours and also powers connected accessory modules. Even if the mobile network is overloaded, the internet provider has been hacked or someone has pulled out the wrong plug, NIKOS continues to operate. This means that visitor guidance for EXPO 2027 Belgrade remains reliably functional even in the event of a power failure or disruptions to public communications networks.
Can NIKOS be deployed quickly and flexibly?+
Yes. NIKOS was specifically developed for flexible outdoor applications without fixed infrastructure. The modules can be mounted by one or two people within just a few minutes on a range of structures, such as lampposts, stages, stands or trees, and configured individually. A standard Schuko power connection is sufficient for continuous operation. NIKOS integrates an existing digital radio network.
Where does using NIKOS create cost benefits?+
Depending on the application, NIKOS can be used to implement various functions through a single communications platform. These savings can quickly offset the rental and installation costs of NIKOS. You can find some specific examples of savings here. Consistent use of its wide range of functions often not only increases the level of safety and makes employees’ work easier, but also delivers savings in the overall budget. NIKOS mainly reduces the effort required for separate loudspeaker, control and communication solutions. Material requirements and cabling work are reduced, and information and emergency announcements can be made from a single location. NIKOS can also be used to replace personnel in a targeted manner: tasks that would otherwise require several security, reporting or operator stations distributed across the site can be handled from a single location through central announcements, remote control and status monitoring. This makes it possible either to reduce staffing or to deploy personnel more effectively at safety-critical points. The greatest savings potential arises at fenced events, such as festivals or corporate events: Monitoring emergency exit gates technically with NIKOS can cover their security, eliminating security posts at emergency exits or allowing them to be deployed more effectively elsewhere. In this way, rental and installation costs are offset by savings on personnel and other technology. Particularly at temporary, time-limited events, this significantly reduces the costs of planning, setting up and operating safety technology.
