Visitor guidance for the 40th German Protestant Church Congress 2027 in Düsseldorf

autonomous reliable cost-effective

NIKOS is not a conventional PA system, but a radio-based public address, alarm and control system for large events, construction sites and crisis situations, which you can rent by the day through certified partners and either integrate into your PA or use on its own.

Challenge

Clear guidance with high visitor numbers

At the 40th German Protestant Church Congress 2027 in Düsseldorf, visitor guidance is particularly challenging due to crowds, loud ambient noise and guests who speak other languages. High visitor numbers and constantly changing visitor flows make it more difficult to find one's way between event areas, entrances and exits, and safe routes. In the event of a disruption or danger, warnings and instructions must reach all affected areas quickly and unambiguously. In addition, overloaded public mobile networks can further impair communication.

Solution

One unified solution for everyday use and emergencies

Instead of multiple separate solutions: NIKOS unites visitor information, system monitoring, visitor guidance and control in a single network-independent platform. Central information announcements and remote control support visitor guidance across different event areas. This reduces the effort required for separate communication solutions and for staff who would otherwise have to coordinate visitors at several points simultaneously.

FAQ

Information for planners and organisers

Is NIKOS designed to meet the relevant standards for announcements?+
Yes, indeed: NIKOS meets the requirements of DIN EN 50849 for electroacoustic emergency warning systems. The system was developed specifically for safety-relevant announcements and alerting and is technically designed for both everyday operation and emergency situations. DIN EN 50849 represents the relevant reference framework for ELA systems. Unlike mobile network-based systems, NIKOS does not depend on any external network and is therefore immediately ready for use at all times — fully meeting the standard as a result. Other standards known from safety technology, such as DIN EN 54, DIN VDE 0833-4 and DIN 14675 (voice alarm systems), do not apply to NIKOS, as they are not applicable to radio-based public address systems like NIKOS. NIKOS is a public address system for temporary and mobile applications and has been used successfully many times for mission-critical communication tasks since 2017. RADACOM and your regional NIKOS partner will be happy to advise you on the wide range of NIKOS functions and support you in implementing the requirements cost-effectively.
Where does using NIKOS create cost advantages?+
Depending on the application, NIKOS can implement a range of different functions via a single, unified communication platform. These savings can quickly offset the rental and installation costs of NIKOS. You can find several specific examples of savings here. When its wide range of functions is used consistently, NIKOS often delivers savings in the overall budget in addition to improving the level of safety and making employees' work easier. NIKOS mainly reduces the effort required for separate loudspeaker, control and communication solutions. Material requirements and cabling work are reduced, and information and emergency announcements can be made from a single location. NIKOS can also be used to specifically replace personnel: tasks that would otherwise require several security, reporting or operating posts distributed across the site can be handled from a single location through central announcements, remote control and status monitoring. This allows personnel to be reduced or deployed more effectively at safety-critical points. The greatest savings potential arises at fenced-off events: monitoring emergency exit gates technically with NIKOS can replace their guarding, meaning that guards at emergency exits can be eliminated or deployed more effectively elsewhere. In this way, rental and installation costs are offset by savings in personnel and other technology. Especially at temporary, time-limited events, this significantly reduces the costs of planning, setting up and operating safety technology.
Does NIKOS remain functional when mobile networks are overloaded?+
Yes, NIKOS operates via its own autonomous radio network and is completely independent of public communication networks and their availability. This makes the system highly resistant to external influences. Since NIKOS does not rely on cable connections but communicates via radio, the connection is automatically re-established after an interruption. NIKOS is therefore much more resilient to disruptions to normal operations than many other systems, demonstrating the crisis resilience of this communication system. NIKOS [audio]² has an internal battery with a runtime of up to 16 hours and also supplies connected accessory modules via this battery. Even if the mobile network is overloaded, the internet provider has been hacked or someone has unplugged the wrong cable, NIKOS continues to operate. This ensures that visitor guidance for the 40th German Protestant Church Congress 2027 remains reliably functional even in the event of a power failure or disruptions to public communication networks.
Can NIKOS be installed flexibly on temporary event sites?+
Yes, NIKOS was specifically developed for flexible outdoor use without permanent infrastructure. The modules can be mounted and individually configured by one or two people within a few minutes on various structures such as lampposts, stages, stands or trees. A standard Schuko power connection is sufficient for continuous operation. NIKOS uses an existing digital radio network.
