NIKOS – Volksfest

Voice alerting for Schützenfest Hannover

autonomous reliable cost-effective

NIKOS is not a conventional PA system, but a radio-based public address, alarm and control system for large events, construction sites and crisis situations, which you can rent by the day through certified partners and either integrate into your PA or use on its own.

Challenge

announcements reach the parade and marquee operations in parallel

At Schützenfest Hannover, the parade and stationary marquee operations are closely linked in time. Safety announcements must be understood both along the moving parade route and inside full marquees. Loud brass music, crowded marquees and many volunteer participants make unified coordination difficult. Voice alerting that relies on individual phone connections or public networks quickly reaches its limits in such situations.

Solution

One unified solution for everyday use and emergencies

For events such as Schützenfest Hannover, NIKOS bundles the control of individual modules for announcements, alerting, information messages and additional outputs on one platform. Central operation is provided by NIKOS [dispatcher]², enabling targeted control of individual locations, areas or the entire site. NIKOS [audio]² receives the voice transmission on site and outputs it as an analogue audio signal. NIKOS [horn]² supplements acoustic output at positions without an existing sound system, while NIKOS [relay]² switches external devices and NIKOS [LED]² provides emergency lighting. NIKOS [flash]² supports signalling during loud brass music. By combining these functions in one platform, multiple standalone systems, separate control devices and additional installation effort can be reduced.

FAQ

Information for planners and organisers

Do announcements with NIKOS comply with the applicable standards?+
Yes. NIKOS complies with DIN EN 50849. The standard specifies electroacoustic emergency warning systems for safety-related announcements and alerting.
How are announcements heard over loud brass music?+
During loud brass music, NIKOS [flash]² signals to the conductor, bandleader or DJ by flashing light to interrupt the music immediately. On receiving the signal, the music is stopped so that announcements are clearly understood.
How does NIKOS support compliance with night-time quiet periods?+
The night-time quiet function in NIKOS [dispatcher]² centrally switches off all connected sound systems at the push of a button. This simplifies approval by the authorities and helps prevent complaints from residents.
How quickly is NIKOS installed for a Schützenfest?+
NIKOS was developed specifically for flexible outdoor deployments without fixed infrastructure. The modules can be installed and individually configured by one or two people within a few minutes on different structures such as lampposts, stages, stands or trees. A standard Schuko power connection is sufficient for continuous operation.
